Do you have testimonials in a WordPress plugin on your site?  If not, you’re missing out on an opportunity to streamline and quickly add testimonials in the future.  Collecting testimonials might seem like a hassle, yet it’s an invaluable thing to do to help build your credibility when new clients come to your site.

Why Do You Need A WordPress Testimonials Plugin?

Using a plugin for testimonials allows you to manage the testimonials all in one place.  I like to think of it as a spreadsheet for your testimonials.  This makes it much easier to add a new one or adjust what is on your home page without having to edit the pages.  Once you set up the plugin and assign categories to each testimonial, then you just insert the shortcode onto a given page and you’re done!  With Strong Testimonials, you can even set up an easy form that allows people to submit the testimonial and then you just approve it. Even easier! I like to use categories for the different services that a client has and then the home page.  Using categories this way allows you to filter by categories to then add the testimonials to a given page.

Key Factors when Selecting a WordPress Plugin

When selecting any plugin for WordPress, there are several things you want to look at:
  • When was the plugin last updated?  If the plugin hasn’t been updated for 6 months, the developer may not be keeping it up to date with the latest releases of WordPress.
  • What do the reviews say about the plugin? As with anything, reviews tell the story.  If a plugin has less than 4 stars, I want to know why.  Be sure to read the reviews to see what people say.  Sometimes the frustration that is expressed could be about features that aren’t important to you.
  • How many times has it been installed? Unless you are a tester of plugins and enjoy using something no one else is using, the safer bet is to simply pick a plugin that has been installed 1000’s of times.  These plugins have passed the test of time and people are using them.

Recommendation for the Best Testimonials Plugin

Over the years, I’ve tested and tried and used many Testimonials plugins.  I love B3 Multimedia’s Divi testimonials plugin, yet my favorite that I’m using on my site right now is Strong Testimonials.  The basic version of this plugin is free and gives you a robust set of features to collect and show off your testimonials. Here is a video showing you the basics of the tool and the submission form.
